A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 15th and Iowa streets sent two women to the hospital Friday afternoon. About 12:45 p.m., Valerie Hird, 20, Lawrence, was heading north on Iowa driving a 1991 Chevy Lumina when she hit a vehicle stopped for the light at the intersection of 15th and Iowa streets. The vehicle that was hit, a 2000 Honda CRV, was being driven by Lia Faber, 21, Wichita. Both women were transported by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. Hird was given a citation for following too closely, police said.

Hird and Faber had both been treated and released by the hospital by Friday night.

Why didn't she see the car and stop? No one is safe on the streets in Lawrence.

Nope. Clipped from: http://police.lawrenceks.org/content/accidents-mapped "592 Accidents were reported to the Lawrence Kansas Police Department during the last two months."

That's a bit over 9.8 accidents every day for the last two months.

There was an accident at 15th and Kasold around 7:45 AM as well. The auto I saw looked plenty crashed up in the front.. sort of as if it had gone under a large truck.

Guess it's tough to cover them all.

There could be a special section in the paper. Maybe there should be, considering that there are almost ten accidents a day in Lawrence.

20 year old woman following too close; any likelihood that texting, I-padding or cell phoning might be involved! I like my chances on a 50 cent bet!
