Memorial service planned for explosion victims

? As investigators continue to determine the cause of a grain elevator explosion in Atchison, the six men who died will be remembered at a memorial service.

A public ceremony is planned for Wednesday at noon in Atchison to honor the men who died when the Bartlett Grain elevator exploded Oct. 29.

KQTV reports that investigators on Tuesday gave approval to begin removing some debris from the site.

OSHA is expected to be on site for up to six months. The company has said it plans to reopen the elevator but it is not clear when that might happen.

Wednesday’s memorial service will be at the Lewis and Clark Pavilion on the riverfront in Atchison.
