Area football roundup: Eudora stuns Basehor-Linwood

? Eudora High scored the final 13 points in the fourth quarter to come from behind and knock undefeated Basehor-Linwood out of the Class 4A state football playoffs, 28-21.

Eudora quarterback Derek Webb accounted for both fourth-quarter touchdowns, the first an 87-yard run. Webb then completed a 17-yard pass to Gabe Cleveland with 6:51 left to put the Cardinals up by seven points after the extra point by Nick Becker, following a missed extra point after Webb’s run had tied the game at 21.

Cleveland rushed for 108 yards on 22 carries, while Webb rushed for 179 yards on 17 carries.

Eudora (10-1) forced three Basehor-Linwood turnovers, including an interception in the fourth quarter. The Bobcats (10-1) were stalled at midfield by the Eudora defense in the final minute after an offensive-pass-interference call. Eudora knocked down a Collin Murphy pass with 22 seconds left on fourth down and 15 and ran the clock out.

Eudora travels Friday to Chanute (8-3), which defeated Louisburg, 21-0, for the state quarterfinals.
