Topeka ? State Revenue Secretary Nick Jordan has completed a two-day tour of western Kansas to gather ideas from rural citizens about potential changes in the tax code.

Jordan, a former Republican state senator from Shawnee, is leading a group of advisers preparing a proposal for modifying the Kansas tax code. Gov. Sam Brownback is expected to announce the proposal in the coming weeks, with an eye toward lowering income taxes.

The tour Tuesday and Wednesday included stops in Great Bend, Garden City, Colby, Hays and Salina. Jordan says residents expressed a desire for a strong Kansas economy and more jobs.

Legislators will consider Brownback’s proposal during the 2012 session.
