Man life-flighted from Lawrence’s Virginia Inn after presumed fall

A man was life-flighted from the Virginia Inn, 2903 W. Sixth St., after police and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical officials were called to the hotel shortly after 11:30 a.m. in response to a medical situation involving a man outside the hotel on the ground.

Lawrence Police Sgt. Ted Bordman said emergency officials were addressing the situation as if the man had fallen from the walkway outside the second-floor rooms, but police weren’t sure if he actually had fallen or what the extent of his injuries were. First responders found the man outside on the ground, but no one reported seeing a fall, Bordman said.

Another woman in the second-floor room where the man was staying was transported away from the scene in an ambulance, but Bordman said the nature of her injuries was also unclear.

“There are a lot of unknowns,” he said.

Police are continuing to investigate the situation, but Lawrence Police Sgt. Matt Sarna said that no foul play was suspected at this time.
