25 years ago: Police consider it a ‘quiet’ Halloween

November 1, 2011

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 1, 1986:

Halloween had passed rather quietly for the city, according to the Lawrence Police Department. Officer Tony Garcia reported that there had been some reports of egg-throwing and some mailboxes knocked over, but "fortunately there was nothing major and no burglaries." A police dispatcher added that it had been "pretty busy, but it was mostly disturbance calls, loud music, the usual parties." On the previous night, some residents in central Lawrence reported that their cars had been vandalized with spray paint. Four windows had also been broken at Woodlawn School, 508 Elm.
