Lawrence man taken to hospital after swerving to miss deer on Clinton Parkway

Douglas County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a single-vehicle injury accident on Clinton Parkway near the Kansas Highway 10 bypass around 10:30 Monday evening. According to Sgt. Blake McCall, a 39-year-old Lawrence man was traveling westbound in a Ford F-150 pickup truck when he swerved to miss a deer, causing him to go over a sidewalk, under a nearby bridge and hit a concrete pillar head-on. He was the only occupant of the vehicle and was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by ambulance with nonlife-threatening injuries. He was later treated and released, according to LMH. McCall said the man was wearing a seatbelt.
