Severe thunderstorm warning canceled for Douglas County

The National Weather Service has canceled the severe thunderstorm warning. The strongest part of the storm will stay to the west of Douglas County, according Douglas County dispatchers.

1:18 a.m.

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Douglas County, eastern Shawnee County and southwest Jefferson County until 2 a.m. Sunday.

The NWS doppler radar indicated a storm capable of producing half dollar-sized hail four miles north of Carbondale, which is 32 miles west of Lawrence. That storm is traveling northeast at 25 miles per hour.
