Two arrested following incident with gun near West 31st Street

A 27-year-old transient man and a 29-year-old Lawrence man were arrested early Saturday morning following an altercation with an acquaintance.

According to Lawrence Police Capt. Bill Cory, the incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. near 31st Street and Ousdahl Road. Cory said the two suspects had been involved in a verbal altercation with the victim. The suspects were known to the victim.

The two suspects left the area but shortly returned with a firearm. People in the area reported hearing at least one gun shot during the incident. The suspects left the area once again when they were contacted by officers.

Both suspects were arrested, the 27-year-old on charges of aggravated assault and the other, Cory said, on charges of criminal possession of a firearm.

No on was injured during the incident.

For all of you anti gunners, follow this case and see how many of the hundreds of on the book laws will be enforced. If these dudes were pure as driven snow, I can think of at least 5 violations. Me thinks they are not pure at heart and if having legal issues the 5 grows by at 50.

Oh, the gun violations will not be enforced in this case. Or should we.......

Make these guys an example and make them howl in pain when they get the extra years mandated in federal law.

Seams to me the last time something like this happened, all the parties involved met in a bar. Maybe the bar goers need to be a little more selective with who they hook up with. Lawrence, we cannot continue to blame others for our problems.
