Kansas softball’s Maggie Hull honored

Kansas softball’s Maggie Hull was named to the All-Big 12 second team on Tuesday. The teams were voted on by the league’s coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own players.

The Free State graduate led the Jayhawks with a .346 batting average this season, while her 49 RBIs were the second-most in KU history. She batted in 19 runs during Big 12 Conference play to lead the league. Hull also ranked in the top 10 of KU’s single-season record lists for doubles (14–tied for sixth) and slugging percentage (.611–fifth).

Hull, a sophomore outfielder who started all 53 games, hit four grand slams for the Jayhawks in 2011, which tied a national high. She also hit two game-winning home runs — versus Georgia Tech on March 19 and again the next day at Coastal Carolina.

Kansas finished its 2011 season with a 31-22 overall record.
