A 21-year-old female Kansas University student reported to Lawrence police early Friday that someone had snatched her purse in a robbery in the 1500 block of Kentucky Street.

The woman was not injured but said she was approached from behind by two people who knocked her to the ground at 2:30 a.m. Friday, said Sgt. Matt Sarna, a Lawrence police spokesman. She then went to a friend’s house and called police.

About $70 in property was stolen, including the light green cloth purse and car keys, according to the police report. No weapons were displayed. The victim told police one of the suspects was wearing baggy jeans, but she did not provide any further description, Sarna said.

How about a sting operation from 2 to 5 A.M. Time to catch the few who prey on our night owls.

Does Lawrence do any neighborhood watch programs? Might be a good idea in some of these areas.

I worked 2 to 2 four days a week to put me through school, never had a car. Also, it is college, and why should somebody be afraid to walk at night.
