U.S. Coast Guard to offer boating safety class May 14

Members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer a boating safety class on May 14.

The course will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the fire station at 19th Street and Stewart Avenue. No fee will be charged, and purchase of the course textbook, “About Boating Safely,” is optional.

An exam will be administered at the end of the day, and successful completion of the class will satisfy the Kansas educational requirement for people between the ages of 12 and 21 to operate a motorboat, sailboat or personal watercraft.
