A 78-year-old Lawrence man suffered an abrasion but refused medical treatment Wednesday after he tripped in an intersection of Clinton Parkway and Crestline Drive and was struck by a car driven by a 21-year-old Lawrence resident, Sarna said. The accident occurred at noon Wednesday.

Sarna said Brenn Amyx, the driver of a 1983 Buick LeSabre, was headed north on Crestline Drive and attempting to turn east onto Clinton Parkway as Dale Mayhew was on the southeast corner and tripped into the intersection. The front right tire of the car struck Mayhew. Sarna said that the accident was still under investigation to determine any contributing factors and that no citations were issued Wednesday.

Tripped would imply he was moving at the time. Was his intention to cross the street or had he just crossed the street?

He was moving toward the intersection. The driver of the car was looking left when the man tripped and fell into the intersection on the right side of the car.
