Man receives minor injuries after falling into intersection, being hit by car

A 78-year-old Lawrence man suffered an abrasion but refused medical treatment Wednesday after he tripped in an intersection of Clinton Parkway and Crestline Drive and was struck by a car driven by a 21-year-old Lawrence resident, Sarna said. The accident occurred at noon Wednesday.

Sarna said Brenn Amyx, the driver of a 1983 Buick LeSabre, was headed north on Crestline Drive and attempting to turn east onto Clinton Parkway as Dale Mayhew was on the southeast corner and tripped into the intersection. The front right tire of the car struck Mayhew. Sarna said that the accident was still under investigation to determine any contributing factors and that no citations were issued Wednesday.
