Johnson County district attorney won’t charge officer involved in fatal shooting

? A Kansas police officer won’t be charged for fatally shooting a man several weeks ago.

Olathe police were called to a duplex the night of March 29 on a report of two men fighting.

Olathe police say the officer heard screams, went inside and was confronted by an armed man assaulting another man. Investigators said the officer shot and killed the armed man, identified as 20-year-old Carlos Villegas Jr.

KMBC-TV reports that District Attorney Steve Howe has decided not to charge the officer. Howe said Monday the shooting was justified under Kansas law.
