A 21-year-old Lawrence man was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by a private vehicle Wednesday morning after a physical altercation with another man inside the Phoggy Dog, 2228 Iowa, said Sgt. Matt Sarna, a Lawrence police spokesman.

The victim had injuries to his face and was treated at the hospital. The suspect, a 32-year-old Lawrence man Daniel Martin Gomer, left the area, but police later found him and arrested him, Sarna said. Prosecutors later filed charges of misdemeanor battery against Gomer, who was given notice to appear in court again April 11.
