Union Pacific steam engine to tour Midwest in May

? A Union Pacific steam locomotive based in Cheyenne will make a big tour through the Midwest starting in May.

Union Pacific took votes on which route would be traversed by one of their steam engines. The biggest share of votes went to a route called the Little Rock Express.

Union Pacific says steam engine No. 844 is scheduled to depart Cheyenne on May 27.

It will then make overnight stops in North Platte, Neb.; Marysville and Coffeyville, Kan.; and four cities in Missouri: Kansas City, Jefferson City, St. Louis and Cape Girardeau (juh-RAHR’-doh).

Three overnight stops are planned in Arkansas: Bald Knob, North Little Rock and Van Buren. From there, the locomotive will stop through Omaha, Neb., before returning to Cheyenne by late June.
