Sedgwick County commissioner says columnist should resign after making disparaging remarks about Kansas

? A Sedgwick County commissioner is calling for a New York Times columnist to resign or be fired after making disparaging remarks about Kansas on TV.

Commissioner Karl Peterjohn says comments made by columnist David Carr recently on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” are worse than calling Kansans Neanderthals.

The Wichita Eagle reports Carr, Maher and other guests were talking about New Jersey when Carr referred to Kansas and Missouri as the home of “low-sloping foreheads.”

The Minnesota native paused and then chastised himself, asking “Did I just say that aloud?”

Peterjohn made his remarks at the end of a commission meeting Wednesday.

Carr has since apologized on social media.
