University Bridge Club announces results of its June 4 meeting with hosts Roz and Karen Zimmerer.

Pink winners: Hazel Stellmacher, first; Karen Zimmerer, second; Donna Riehm, third; Jane Golden, fourth; and Willi Stark, fifth.

Blue winners: Al Smith, first; Harold Riehm, second; Alice Akin, third; John Stark, fourth; and Dan Harden, fifth.

Over the Rainbow Doll Club met Thursday at Janet Lukehart’s home for their annual Club Doll Birthday Party. The theme focused on America with red, white and blue colors. The dolls received a navy blue sailor’s dress with a white collar, a small sail boat and a white sailor’s hat. Members were quizzed about their knowledge of the American flag and famous historical phrases. Gifts were exchanged for the dolls. Final plans were made for the sewing project day in July, and members discussed other upcoming programs and activities.

The Wednesday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on June 1 was directed by Virginia Seaver. North-South winners were Charles Hedges and Clarice Broz, first in A and B; Carol Ball and Nita Scales, second in A and B, and first in C; Sally Taylor and Yvonne Hedges, third in A; and Mona Bell and Eldon Herd, fourth in A. 

East-West winners were Steven Vossler and Vince Nordberg, first in A; David Piro and Paul Heitzman, second in A; Grant Sutton and Catherine Blumenfeld, third in A and first in B; and Mary Locniskar and Wanna Roszel, fourth in A, second in B, and first in C.

The Thursday Morning Mentor Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on June 2 was directed by Virginia Seaver. Winners were Paul Jordan and Craig Huneke, first; Barbara McCorkle and Deronda Ashley, second; and Patricia Lechtenberg and Angie Davidson, third.

The Friday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on June 3 was directed by Virginia Seaver. Winners were Grant Sutton and Jerry Sloan, first in A; Barbara Haverty and Barbara McCorkle, second in A and first in B; Mona Bell and Carol Ball, third in A and second in B; Jay Hildreth and Judy Hildreth, fourth in A; and Chris Lane and Yvonne Hedges, fifth in A and third in B.

The Monday Evening Duplicate Club’s game of June 6 was the first game of the year for qualifying for the North American Open Pairs competition and was directed by Virginia Seaver. Winners were Virginia Seaver and Chris Lane, first in A; July Dalton and Mary Fenlon, second in A and first in B; Grant Sutton and John Hickey, third in A and second in B; Steven Vossler and James Masilamani, fourth in A; Jerry Sloan and Eldon Herd tied in third in B with Kent McCullough and Bobby Patton; Dick Madaus and Regina Madaus, first in C; and Emily Foster and Albert Ballard, second in C. Other qualifiers were Jolene Andersen and Jean Khatib, followed by Steven Bogler and Sondra Pence.

The University Bridge Club’s Annual Spring Party was June 8 at Famous Dave’s BBQ in Lawrence and was hosted by Steven Bogler.
