Lawrence-Douglas County League of Women Voters will kick off a membership drive with a public forum Saturday.

The group plans to discuss the role of the federal government in public education, campaign finance, Kansas tax policies, redistricting based on 2010 Census data and the recent Kansas law on registering new voters that requires a photo ID to vote.

“We believe in participating in public policy decisions, but first you have to know and understand the issues,” said Carrie Lindsey, the chapter’s membership chair.

Men and women are invited to the forum from 10 a.m. to noon at Lawrence Fire Station No. 5 on the southeast corner of 19th and Iowa streets.

Headline: "Lawrence-Douglas County League of Liberal Women Voters to hold public forum June 25."

Corrected. You're welcome.

It's false advertising and disingenuous they claim they are non-partisan, that's for sure.

Just because you don't know what non-paritisan means, you should go to the meeting and find out. The League does not ENDORSE candidates and in fact recently ran ads in both Missouri and Massachusetts against a Democrat and a Republican in regards to their votes on an ISSUE on which we have a position. We have no position on prunes.
