Winfield woman crowned Miss Kansas

? A 24-year-old from southern Kansas has been named Miss Kansas 2011.

Carissa Kelley of Winfield was crowned Saturday night at the conclusion of the pageant in Pratt. She will represent the state in the Miss America contest.

The Pratt Tribune reported that Kelley competed as Miss Wooded Hills. She is a graduate of Cowley College and former student at Southwestern College in Winfield. She has worked as a substitute teacher and will promote a platform of empowering youths.

With the win, she earns a $5,000 scholarship.

The first runner-up was Caitlin Taylor, who competed as Miss Rose Hill.
