Kansas freshman Diamond Dixon takes third place in 400

? Kansas University freshman Diamond Dixon placed third in the 400 at Friday’s NCAA Outdoor track and field meet at Drake Field.

The El Paso, Texas, native, who finished in 51.88, became KU’s first female Jayhawk to earn All-America honors in that outdoor event. Dixon finished just .38 behind the second-place runner. Texas A&M’s Jessica Beard won the race.

In other action, KU sophomore Mason Finley placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 62-13/4.

KU sophomore Andrea Geubelle placed eighth in the triple jump in 42-10.25.
