K.C. Sluggers split

? The Kansas City Sluggers, a summer league baseball squad made up largely of Lawrence High and Free State High players, split a pair of games on Thursday at Branson (Mo.) High.

The Sluggers beat Eureka, 5-2, and fell to the Southern Illinois Stars, 5-4.

In the victory, Garrett Cleavinger pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed seven hits and no earned runs in earning the victory. Montana Samuels went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Jake Vinoverski went 1-for-3 with a home run. Trent Johnson slammed the door with 1 2/3 scoreless innings for the save.

K.C. will face Springfield Kickapoo at 2 p.m. today in Branson, Mo.
