Kansas funds board has new top investment officer

? A board in Kansas that manages state and local government funds has named a longtime state employee as its new chief investment officer.

The Pooled Money Investment Board said it promoted Scott Miller, of Olathe, into the position after a nationwide search. Miller had been serving as the board’s investments director, and he’s worked for state government for 17 years.

He also has worked as an investment officer for six banks in Nebraska and as a regional investments trader in the Kansas City area.

The board invests state tax dollars and other funds deposited with the state treasurer’s office, and it manages an investment pool for local governments. Its five members include State Treasurer Ron Estes.
