The National Weather Service has issued a slight risk for severe weather on Wednesday for the Lawrence area. The slight risk area is just east of Lawrence on Thursday and Friday.

There’s a slight chance of severe thunderstorms today in Lawrence and across surrounding areas, the National Weather Service said.

The primary threat is expected to be from large to very large hail and damaging winds, though “an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out,” the weather service said.

Storms are expected to develop sometime this afternoon, should they develop at all.
