After 10 years at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and developing “wonderful relationships” within the community, LMH Vice President Jeff Novorr is leaving Lawrence.

He established the hospital’s corporate compliance program upon joining LMH in 2001. He spent the early years of his career building that program, ensuring the hospital adhered to regulatory requirements. He was promoted to vice president in 2005.

Novorr announced Monday that he has accepted the assistant vice president position for patient-support services at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

“It will be a new challenge and a great opportunity in a nationally recognized organization,” said Novorr, who will leave LMH after July 8.

Gene Meyer, president and CEO of LMH, described Novorr as a dedicated worker, an outstanding speaker and a tremendous family man.

“I’m going to miss a lot of things about him,” Meyer said. “This is a great career move for him, and we know he’ll do well in whatever he’s involved in.”

Novorr is an active member of the Lawrence community. He served on the board of Junior Achievement and said he was involved in all aspects of the organization. He has also worked with the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Lawrence.

He said Lawrence has been a great place to raise his two sons, ages 11 and 13, and it was a difficult decision to leave the city that has become home for his family.

“It is such a vibrant community, and it is a giving community,” he said. “This community and the individuals have taught me so much about myself and what it means to be a part of a community.”
