Eudora police attempted to pull over a vehicle in the 1000 block of Main Street around 3 a.m. after the vehicle failed to yield, according to Douglas County emergency dispatch. The pursuit continued into Leavenworth County, where police eventually lost the vehicle.

Eudora police were not able to provide any additional information about the incident. A spokesperson from the Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office said their agency was involved, but also could not provide additional details.

According the LJWorld blogger Operation 100, emergency dispatchers reported that suspect vehicle was a red SUV with a Florida license plate.

(from the Operation 100 blog)

Just after 3:20 a.m. an Officer spotted a speeding Red SUV with Florida license plates in the 900 block of Maine Street. The vehicle failed to yield when the officer attempted to make a traffic stop and the chase was on. The driver made wound his way around Lawrence and to the river bridge continuing northbound into Leavenworth County. That wasn't enough to get the Douglas County officer off of his trail. Speeds reached nearly 100 miles per hour. The officer lost sight of the vehicle while eastbound on K-32 highway. One Leavenworth County deputy followed the pursuit for a short time, he never caught up with the Douglas County officer, only keeping the Douglas County officer's vehicle in sight.

So which is right .. Maine Street in Lawrence, or Main Street in Eudora ???

It's Main St. in Eudora. We checked with dispatch. But, it's easy to see how one could make such an error. There is also a bridge from Eudora to Leavenworth via Main St.

I don't understand how a SUV out ran the police? I live on 32 and its all straight highway. No police camera? Did they just give up? Rookie officer? No information to give. Really?
