From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for June 3, 1986:

  • Acting on a tip, law enforcement officials had found a handgun and a shotgun in Clinton Lake near the south end of the dam. The Douglas County underwater diving squad had recovered the two weapons, which had then been sent to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to determine if either of them were connected with the recent Centennial Park shooting death of a 26-year-old man.
  • About 40 members of the Lawrence Civic Choir were heading to Kansas City International Airport to board a plane for a two-week concert tour. The group, under the direction of John Buehler, were to perform in Romania and Austria.
