A 24-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Wednesday evening after hitting another person with a stick.
According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Randy Roberts, the incident began about 6:30 p.m. near Ninth and Mississippi streets. The suspect and another individual had become engaged in a verbal altercation that then became physical. The suspect struck the other person with a stick. He was booked into the Douglas County Jail on charges of aggravated assault.
There were no injuries in the incident.

Always carry a big stick. Stick it to your best drunk buddy. Another ambulance call costing the taxpayers.

From the article: "There were no injuries in the incident." From this, I would assume that the "drinking buddy" was indignant, perhaps, but not actually wounded.
Where did your get your information that there was "another ambulance call costing the taxpayers"?
Unless you know this to be true (and can supply a source of this knowledge), perhaps you should retract your comment and avoid the further embarrassment of looking like a fool or a liar for making false statements.

I was in that neighborhood last night at about that time and there was some kook wandering through 9th Street, jumping around erratically, and yelling at the top of his lungs. Maybe one of the participants on Just Another Summer Evening in Lawrence.
