Here's some good news for Lawrence drivers: 31st Street, between Haskell Avenue and Louisiana Street, reopened this afternoon, according to Keith Browning, Douglas County public works director.

That area has been closed so workers could put down a new road surface.

Only been across it once, but did it feel a little lumpy to anyone else?

Don't want to be pessimistic, it just seemed a little bumpy for just getting done.

That happened to the 'new east 23rd st' when it was completed. Feels like driving on waves.

That's actually a good analogy, wavy is a much better adjective than bumpy.

Yeah, now the Real Bypass, the only ever needed, is back to doing its job. We've had several such bypasses in town for years: Barker, for N/S, kasold for N/S, and 31st. What we're missing is a W/E connector on the North side...9th street isnt sufficient. But no one has proposed fixing that.
