A Lawrence attorney is the new chairman of the Kansas Bioscience Authority’s board of directors.

The board voted Dan Watkins to serve as chairman during its annual meeting on Tuesday morning, replacing former Kansas Gov. John Carlin.

Bill Sanford was appointed as the board’s vice chairman. Sanford is chairman of Symark LLC, a company that works in technology commercialization and business development.

Sandra A.J. Lawrence, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Children’s Mercy Hospitals & Clinics, was reappointed as the board’s secretary/treasurer.
