25 years ago: Drug sweep nets KU official among arrests

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for July 24, 1986:

A drug sweep in Douglas County had resulted in arrests of several people allegedly involved in cocaine-trafficking. A total of 18 people were named in state complaints, while four were indicted on cocaine-related federal charges. Kansas University officials were distressed at the inclusion of Richard von Ende, executive secretary to KU, in the federal arrests. Von Ende had not yet been arrested due to the fact that he was ill, but he had been issued a summons to appear in U.S. District Court in Topeka.
