Police ask for public’s help in identifying man who robbed Kwik Shop early Thursday morning

Lawrence police are investigating a reported armed robbery that occurred at 3:30 a.m. Thursday at Kwik Shop, 845 Miss.

Sgt. Matt Sarna, a Lawrence police spokesman, said the suspect entered the store, approached the clerk and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect displayed a handgun, obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and left the store, heading north on Mississippi Street.

No injuries were reported.

Sarna described the suspect as a black male, 5-feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing and black shoes, and a white shirt was covering his face.

“It is unknown at this time if a vehicle was involved in the incident,” Sarna said.

Police were attempting to identify the suspect based on surveillance photos.

Sarna said the suspect was considered armed and dangerous and that anyone who sees him should call 911.
