Around and About for July 16, 2011

The Lawrence Accredited Music Teachers will present summer piano recitals at 2:15 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church, 1330 Kasold Drive. There will be a combination of solos, duets, duo piano selections as well as a concerto movement. The students represent the studios of Carol Cook, Jean Drumm, Elaine de San Miguel, Sue Evans, Evelyn Falen, Carole Ross and Jung Spooner.

Performers are: Lydia Bulgren, Parker and Alex Moore, Maria Matamoros, Lizzie Haller, Nathan Ma, Rebecca Pickert, J.J. Zheng, Scout Meyers, Jessica and Jeffry Chen, Bill Quain, Skylar Smith, Reagan Ingram, Amelia Murray, Yihan Li, Ellie and Quinn LeBar, Leonard Bass, Emma Liu, Ben and Mariam Ali, Keaton and Jackson Hoy, Alexsus Payne, Ben and Alexander Miller, Maile Hickman, Davis and Zoe Reed, Luther Fuller, Omar Roth, Shera Bhala, Mason Kelso, Jessica Willis, Delaney Dethloff, Isabelle Schmidtberger, Caroline Baloga, Parkin and Sisi Srisutiva, Brian Chang, Mary Beth Bronson, Naomi Kurata, Alita Joseph and Gus Dierks.

Tim and Angie Silvers, Baldwin City, announce the birth of their son, Luke Robert Silvers, on June 20, 2011, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Luke has a sister, Emily, 7, and a brother, Ty, 4.

His maternal grandparents are Bob and Genny Hammersmith, Lawrence; his paternal grandparents are Kelly and Kevin Otterman, Basehor, and Brad and Renae Silvers, Topeka.

His great-grandparents are Carl and Peggy Silvers, Lone Star, June Grant, Lawrence, and Uveda Otterman, Basehor.
