40 years ago: Meadowbrook is first apartment complex to install cable TV

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for July 15, 1971:

The Meadowbrook Apartment Complex became the first major apartment development in Lawrence to provide cable television for all residents. The manager of Meadowbrook, which had 423 apartment units either occupied or under construction, had arranged with Sunflower Cablevision to have coaxial cable installed in the expanding complex, according to an announcement made by Max Falkenstien, general manager of the cable company. Construction was also progressing on the Sunflower office and television studio at Seventh and New Hampshire, and more than 25 miles of utility poles, owned by Southwestern Bell and Kansas Power & Light, were prepared to receive the approximately 120 miles of cable necessary for service in the Lawrence area.
