Douglas County prosecutors Tuesday filed three charges against a 33-year-old Lawrence man who was accused of drug possession and carrying a sawed-off shotgun. Prosecutors charged Billy S. Peterson with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and criminal use of weapons for possessing a shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches long.

A Lawrence police officer arrested Peterson early Tuesday morning in the 3400 block of Iowa Street, according to Douglas County Jail records. A judge set his bond at $8,000, cash or surety.
