After standoff, Topeka police find man in break-in asleep

? Topeka police say a standoff with a man who allegedly broke into a house ended when they found him asleep inside.

Police say the 39-year-old man, who apparently is homeless, broke into the house Monday, covered the windows and barricaded himself inside.

Neighbors called police about noon to report the man had kicked in the home’s door. Officers and members of the SWAT team responded but had no luck contacting the man. When officers went inside about 3 p.m., they found the man asleep in a bed. He was arrested without incident and booked into jail.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that police say the man does not have any connection with the home owners, who were not home at the time.
