Douglas County prosecutors Friday filed three charges against a man accused of sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl in Eudora earlier this year.

The 26-year-old man, who was identified as a transient Eudora man in jail records Monday, faces one count of child rape and two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, all of which are punishable by a sentence of 25 years to life in prison if convicted.

Amy McGowan, a chief assistant district attorney, said prosecutors allege the crimes occurred between Feb. 1 and June 30.

McGowan also said the girl’s 3-year-old brother was also part of the investigation.

Eudora police have said that the children were former Eudora residents and that the suspect was brought to Eudora from Spring Hill for questioning in the case.

James George, Douglas County’s pro tem judge, kept the man’s bond at $100,000 and ordered him to have no contact with the children if he posts bond.
