J. Scott Vitter Jr., the son of Jeffrey and Sharon Vitter of Lawrence, graduated June 24 from the U.S. Army Ranger School at Fort Benning, Ga. Scott is a second lieutenant in the 27th Engineer Battalion (the “Tiger Battalion”) at Fort Bragg, N.C. He is a 2010 magna cum laude graduate in mechanical engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He was recipient of the George P. Marshall award for excellence in leadership and the Patrick Dixon Award for the outstanding Army ROTC cadet, and he served as the Cadet Tri-Military ROTC Commander and the Cadet Army Battalion Commander at Notre Dame.
