The Four Leaf Clover 4-H Club met June 13 at the Dreher Building at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. The meeting was called to order by Lydia Holland. Eighteen members were present, and the minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. Briauna Huffman gave a financial report. Parliamentarian Karen Schneck gave a report on the importance of parliamentary procedure. Community leader Paula Aiken reminded members to turn in their fair pre-entry forms. Aiken also asked members to sign up for times to work at the fair, and also reminded the club to make reservations to the extension office if they planned to attend the Record Book Training session. Lastly, she thanked everyone for walking and raising money for Relay For Life. During new business, the club voted to have a banner and a hay bale at the fair. The club adjourned the meeting by saying the club pledge and motto. The next meeting will be at 7:15 p.m. Monday in the Dreher Building at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

The Clinton Eagles monthly 4-H meeting was June 27 at Wakarusa Valley School. The meeting was started by acting president Tessa Lieber. Roll call was answered by, “What was your favorite pizza topping?”

Piper Hubbell read the secretary’s report, and the treasurer’s report was given by Darian Barr. The parliamentarian report was given by Kirstyn Heine, who explained the procedure of passing the gavel. County ambassador representative Conner Shuck reported they would work at the concession stand on Thursday at the fair. Photography leader Marissa Dallman spoke about the photography board. Woodworking leader John Patchen talked to about wood working projects for the fair. Tessa Lieber and Nicki Snodgrass attended Citizen Washington Focus in Washington, D.C. They met with our Kansas representatives and went on a tour of the White House. They fundraised in order to attend the trip. Camp talks were given by Kirstyn Heine and Delanie Stone. Max and Luke Gottschamer talked about 4-H camp at Rock Springs. Kirstyn Heine also spoke about Discovery Days. Mini fair, club tour and July meeting will be July 23. The meeting was adjourned by saying the club pledge and motto.

Kanwaka FCE will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Donnie Smith, 176 N. 1900 Road, Lecompton. The lesson, “Someone’s in the Supermarket … Buying Safe Food,” will be given by Lyn Walther.

The 59ers FCE will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the home of Ginny Kubota, 2828 Tomahawk Drive. Co-hostess will be Mary Ann Thomas. A dual lesson will be given. Alica Thomas will present “Minding Their Manners,” and Rebecca Phipps will present “Someone’s Asking … Is The Cyberhighway Friend or Foe?”
