25 years ago: New pay scale under consideration for county workers

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for July 6, 1986:

A new countywide pay classification scale was under consideration. If the resolution were approved by the Douglas County commissioners, county employees could be placed on a pay system that would bring salaries up to “market value.” The new classification system could result in a 2 1/2 percent salary increase across the board and, according to County Counselor Chris McKenzie, “would being our comprehensive plan up to be competitive with the local market.”
