Police arrest Kansas City man accused of exposing himself to group of women in parking lot

July 5, 2011

Lawrence police arrested a 25-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man who was accused of exposing himself to four women early Tuesday morning in a city parking lot at 825 N.H., said Sgt. Matt Sarna, a police spokesman.

Sarna said the women flagged down an officer in the area and made the report. An officer later found the man in the area, but he ran away before he was arrested in the 900 block of New Hampshire Street, Sarna said.

According to jail records, the man is being held pending the filing of any formal charges. The Journal-World generally does not identify suspects unless they are formally charged.

Why is flashing an activity almost exclusively limited to males? Or is it the case that only male flashers are reported? I wonder.

Because when a woman flashes, she's not likely to follow up by sexually assaulting someone.

Plus when a chick flashes, guys think "this must be my lucky day!" amirite!? Depending on the woman, of course.

Well ya, cause is usaly followed by a night of drunken sex when a woman flashes. lol

Women do it quite frequently, but it's usually part of a performance, usually for a male audience, and they get paid for it.

I would say it's more usually for attention. They are usually drunk, yeah, but I'd say there are plenty of women flashing in bars or out on the streets simply for attention (or a simple payment of beads, if the time is right)

According to the DSM neither is a man who flashes likely to follow up by sexually assaulting someone: "Exhibitionism is a mental disorder characterized by a compulsion to display one's genitals to an unsuspecting stranger. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders , also known as the DSM-IV-TR, classifies exhibitionism under the heading of the "paraphilias," a subcategory of sexual and gender identity disorders... In the United States and Canada, the slang term "flasher" is often used for exhibitionists. Description Exhibitionism is described in the DSM-IV-TR as the exposure of one's genitals to a stranger, usually with no intention of further sexual activity with the other person."

Under these circumstances, this is probably the last thing a woman wants to see. You have to think that this guy is probably a pervert and he might do the same in the presence of children. You know he wouldn't do it if it were a group of men.

I've pressed hams with gals before, even shot a moon or two. No big deal. Flashing for perverse pleasure leads to criminal activity.

Did you look up 'pressed hams"?!?! I am clueless....

proper mooning etiquette is really a 3/4 and private parts beside the butt crack should never be shown.

Some people are all too eager to show off their shortcomings!

Now a question for the women-folk, do you girls really think that male junk is weird looking or do you just say that but in your heart of hearts you find it aesthetically pleasing?

Depends on the caliber of the rifle and/or how happy he is to see me...

happy enough to shoot I guess. I polish my riffle so that it is ready to shoot during any war!

Is Anthony Weener visiting Lawrence for the 4th?

You'd figure he'd hang around a little.
