Mario Chalmers’ foundation to host fundraiser for The Villages; mother’s book included in ticket price
The Mario V. Chalmers Foundation and Almarie Speaks! are hosting a fundraiser luncheon and “denim chic” showcase 11 a.m. Feb. 17 at the Hancock Room of the Oread Hotel.
The event, named “The Ball is in Your Court,” will feature Almarie Chalmers speaking about her book, “The Ball is in Your Court, Embracing Your Child’s Dreams.”
A portion of funds raised at the lunch will be donated to The Villages Inc. group homes to pay for basketball courts at two locations in Lawrence and Topeka.
The three-hour program includes a mixer and auction, lunch, “denim chic” showcase, author highlights and a book signing.
