Republican convention picks Bob Montgomery for Kansas House

? A Republican convention has chosen an Olathe City Councilman to represent Johnson County’s 26th in the Kansas House.

The convention on Tuesday chose Bob Montgomery for the seat, which covers most of Olathe east of Interstate 35.

Montgomery, who defeated two other candidates for the seat, served on the Olathe City Council for 14 years.

The former state representative, Rob Olson, will fill Karin Brownlee’s seat in the Kansas Senate. Gov. Sam Brownback has appointed Brownlee to be the next secretary of the Kansas Department of Labor.
