Wichita ? Federal prosecutors have charged a Kansas nurse with conspiring to distribute painkillers.

A criminal information filed Wednesday charges Denise Carlson of Riley with conspiracy to dispense Oxycodone and Oxycontin.

Such a legal document, rather than an indictment, is typically filed with the consent of the defendant. The document did not indicate who else might have been involved in the alleged conspiracy.

The 36-year-old licensed practical nurse had no phone number listed and court records did not indicate whether she had a defense attorney. A spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office said he did not know whether she had retained legal counsel.
