Eudora ? Ellen Phillips had a double-double to lead the Veritas Christian girls basketball team to a 41-36 victory over Center Place (Independence, Mo.) on Friday night.

Phillips scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Sarah McDermott added 11 points and eight rebounds. Kristen Finger had seven points and eight rebounds.

The Eagles had a 32-17 lead entering the fourth quarter, but got into foul trouble and had to call of their press. Center Place stormed back and briefly took the lead before Veritas took it back.

To give up a lead and then come back like that, Veritas coach Kevin Shelton said, was quite an accomplishment for the Eagles.

Veritas (11-9) will travel to Hyman Brand Jewish Academy on Tuesday for its last game before the state tournament.
