Presidential historian to speak about FDR Wednesday night at Dole Institute of Politics

Presidential historian Richard Norton Smith will make his case today at the Dole Institute of Politics for including President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in his 20th century Mount Rushmore.

It is the second installment of the institute’s 2011 Presidential Lecture Series. Smith spoke in January about his choice of Ronald Reagan on the 20th century Mount Rushmore.

Dole Institute director Bill Lacy will interview Smith about Roosevelt during the event, which starts at 7:30 p.m. at the institute, 2350 Petefish Drive, on Kansas University’s West Campus.

Smith is scheduled to speak about choosing Dwight D. Eisenhower on Feb. 23 and Woodrow Wilson on Feb. 24, which will round out his selections.
