Edgerton man arrested on multiple charges of child sex crimes

February 5, 2011

A 45-year-old Edgerton man was booked into Douglas County Jail early Saturday morning on seven sex crime charges, including two counts of rape of a child, three counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, and two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior.

The arrest occurred in the 700 block of Nelson Street in Edgerton, according to the Douglas County Jail booking log. The man is currently being held at the jail, and his bond is set at $150,000.

More details will be provided as they become available.

The Journal-World generally does not identify sex crime suspects unless they have been convicted.

"The Journal-World generally does not identify sex crime suspects unless they have been convicted"

Why not?? Oter "suspects" and "persons of interest" are revealed.

Every other news outlet in the area is quick to identify these slugs, why does the JW hide their identity when they are on the jail intake roster, the evening news on most all channels. I thought you were supposed to be journalists, not censors.

Do we really need to cover this yet again? Every single sex crime story, someone whines about this.

Haven't you people ever heard of false accusations? This particular crime is so subject to opinion that once accused, regardless of guilt, the suspicions remain. I think the LJW is being appropriately cautious. Once it is a conviction it is a whole different story.

Lets say this person gets out on bond. How are we to keep our children safe if we dont know who it is? Courts can take months to get to trial. Perhaps this person is at large on the streets for months.. Not good...

The same way we keep them safe before a person is suspected...
