Police say Wichita homicide victim found buried was former law officer

? Wichita police say a man whose body was found buried in a residential neighborhood was a former law enforcement officer in southeast Kansas.

The body of 41-year-old Sean “Chris” Putman was found Thursday in a shallow grave in a backyard in Wichita’s Oakville neighborhood. Two people who lived with Putman are being held as suspects in his death. His body was not found at their home.

In the early 2000s, Putnam worked for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, then the Galena and Bel Aire police departments.

From 2004 to 2006, he worked for KAKE television and Wichita and recently was working as a roofer.

Police Lt. Ken Landwehr says Putnam was killed in late December. Police are awaiting autopsy results.
