Overland Park man pleads guilty to aggravated battery in Lawrence case

A 38-year-old Overland Park man has pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated battery in connection with a July domestic incident in Lawrence.

Douglas County prosecutors had accused Justin McDonald Largent with threatening the alleged victim with a handgun during the incident early on July 21 in the 700 block of Connecticut Street. Prosecutors charged him in September with two counts of aggravated battery, one count of making a criminal threat and one count of battery.

Largent had a trial scheduled to begin Wednesday, but according to court records, he pleaded guilty last week to the one count as prosecutors agreed to drop the three other charges.

District Judge Peggy Kittel is scheduled to sentence Largent 10:30 a.m. Jan. 27.
