40 years ago: Local youth to pay respects to benefactor

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Dec. 18, 1971:

A memorial service for Alfred Bromelsick was to be held before the annual Christmas party in his name on the upcoming Saturday. Bromelsick, who had died in 1950, had left his estate to the county 4-H, Boy Scout, and Girl Scout organizations. The memorial service at Oak Hill Cemetery was to include representatives of the three organizations leaving a wreath at his tomb. The party was to follow in the afternoon at Hoch Auditorium at Kansas University and would include carol-singing, a feature-length film, and a visit from Santa Claus to the approximately 2,000 invited youngsters.
